Esposito Live Surgery Course: 7 July 2012 / IT-Venice

Esposito M: Vertical and Horizontal Bone Augmentation with Xenogenic Blocks.
Vertical and Horizontal augmentation procedures remain a clinical challenge, however in a few instance they represent the only available option to allow dental implant placement. This course will focus on:
1) the inlay technique using a cancellous heterologous block for augmenting posterior mandibles with about 5 mm of residual bone height above the mandibular canal. This technique has been evaluated in several randomised clinical trials and is one of the most documented vertical augmentation procedures.
2) the onlay technique using a cortico-cancellous heterologous block for augmenting atrophic ridges in the maxilla. This technique has proven a good predictability during clinical trials.
